Acticoat Absorbent destroys bacteria within the dressing and at the wound site. The antimicrobial barrier remains effective for up to 3 days, increasing convenience for patient and caregivers.Acticoat Absorbent is an effective barrier to a broad spectrum of wound micro organisms. Acticoat Absorbent consists of a silver-coated calcium alginate fabric. The sustained-release of broad-spectrum ionic silver activity protects the dressing from bacterial contamination, while the alginate absorbs excess wound fluid to form a gel that maintains a moist environment. Intended for use as an antimicrobial barrier layer over partial and full-thickness wounds with moderate to heavy exudate such as: decubitus ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, surgical wounds, first and second-degree burns, grafts and donor site.
