Take Gaviscon and the pain is gone. Gaviscon provides fast, effective relief of acid indigestion, heartburn, sour stomach and the upset stomach associated with these symptoms. In addition to acid-neutralizing ingredients, Gaviscon contains "alginate". When Gaviscon Liquid is swallowed, the combination of the alginic acid and bicarbonate creates a foam barrier or "raft" that floats on the stomach acid. This raft foam barrier helps reduce the number of reflux episodes and provides longer lasting action against heartburn than ordinary antacid products. If reflux occurs, this barrier provides protection against the acid-pepsin gastric contents. In fact, Gaviscon helps keep acid down in the stomach, where it belongs. Active ingredients include 95 mg of Aluminum Hydroxide and 358 mg of Magnesium Carbonate per tablespoon.
