MucineXR helps loosen phlegm (mucus) and thin bronchial secretions to rid the bronchial passageways of bothersome mucus and make coughs more productive. MucinexR Extended-Release tablets have a unique bi-layered formulation that provides optimal administration of each dose of guaifenesin. The dosage form of MucinexR is 600 mg, with total dosage not to exceed four tablets or 2400 mg in 24 hours. With this formulation it is recommended that one or two tablets be taken every 12 hours. MucinexR tablets should be taken with a full glass of water (8 ounces), and they can be taken without regard for the timing of meals. MucinexR should not be used by children under 12 years of age.
